Goodbye Flatiron, Hello Real World

By the end of the week I will have completed my final Flatiron porfolio project and coursework and to say I’m grateful is a vast understatement. After earning my B.S. in computer sciences and failing to earn any relevant professional experience during college, I was unable to get an interview, well, anywhere. I was lost and confused and I didn’t know how I would ever become successful in the field. Enter Flatiron School….

React/Redux & Rails Project Guide

By the end of the week I will have completed my final Flatiron portfolio project. This last project really threw me in a loop and I must say it was by far the most time-consuming and challenging project I have worked on thus far. Learning Redux was quite difficult for me and it took awhile for me to understand the material as there are many files involved in a (or at least my) Redux project. So, I thought it would be helpful to provide a getting started guide for the frontend and backend as well as a build flow guide for Redux.

Javascript Project Fetch Request Guide

I just completed my second to last Flatiron project and I cannot tell you how excited I am about the progress I have made during the Bootcamp. I can confidently say that I have learned more over the past four months than I did during the four and a half years I spent at my university. The Flatiron team has helped me immensely by teaching material in a simple yet effective way, and I believe that is the main reason I have made it to this point.

My Rails Project Journey

Selling on Sinatra

Before I began my first Flatiron portfolio project, I made a promise to myself that I would create realistic and meaningful projects that related to my passions in life. That way, I’d feel enthusiastic and genuine during the development process. Needless to say, my brainstorming process for the second project was short-lived as I quickly came up with the idea to create a web application that tracked sales made on my online shops. Having one place that I could log sales made on my Poshmark, Depop, and Mercari shops was something that I’ve thought about for quite some time, so the Online Sales Tracker Sinatra application was a no-brainer.
